Physics

Physics includes a wide variety of specialized fields, each having different subjects of research, ranging from the study of the fundamental laws of nature to practical applications involving cutting-edge technologies. Studies of physics fall between abstract studies such as mathematics and practical ones such as engineering, chemistry, biology, medicine, and earth and planetary sciences. The results of research in physics have been applied to other areas of study. In addition, the results in other areas of study have stimulated the Development of Physics. A historic example is that a paradox found in the temperature measurements of blast furnace paved a way for the birth of quantum mechanics in physics. A recent example is that the theory of relativity in physics has played an important role in the development of Global Positioning System(GPS), which is used in our car navigation systems. In fact, several joint research projects involving other areas of research are in progress in our Department of Physics.
