General information on transportation:

  • Taxi
Usually taxi drivers are not good at speaking English.
You can use the following plates to show where you want to go.
    Destination plates (pdf)
The taxi fee will be shown in a display. A tip is not necessary.
  • Bus
We do NOT recommend to use a bus especially in the beginning of your stay because of the difficulty to use it. When you get on a bus, you need to take a small ticket supplied by a machine at the entrance of the bus (you will use it to show where you get on the bus). When you get off, you pay the fee, the amount of which is shown in a display at the exit (front) of the bus according to the number on your ticket, with small coins. If you don't have the exact amount of money, you need to change money to small coins by using a machine at the exit. Note that you can change 1,000 JPY bill, but CANNOT 5,000 nor 10,000 JPY bill.
